29th INTERNATIONAL GUITAR COMPETITION “CIUDAD DE CORIA” 2026
RULES
PARTICIPATION
All guitarists enrolled in the following categories may participate:
CATEGORY A: ACTIVE STUDENT.
CATEGORY B: AUDITOR STUDENT
CATEGORY C: COMPETITION ONLY.
Students who have won the first prize in previous editions will not be eligible to participate.
APPLICATIONS
Individuals interested in participating in the 2026 “Ciudad de Coria” International Guitar Competition Awards must complete the application form available on the Festival’s website, www.guitarracoria.com, in the “REGISTRATION” section.
CATEGORIES
The competition will have two categories: "Junior Competition” and "Senior Competition”.
Each contestant may participate in only one category.
“Junior Competition”
August 7th, 2026
- Age: Up to 18 years old. Participants must not have turned 19 during the competition.
- Contestants will perform a free program with a maximum duration of 15 minutes.
- The Jury reserves the right to interrupt the participant only if they exceed the allowed time.
Prizes
First Prize
• €500 in cash.
• Free registration for the 30th International Guitar Festival "Ciudad de Coria".
• Diploma.
Second and Third Prize
• Diploma.
"Senior Competition”
August 6th, 7th and 8th, 2026.
The Senior competition will consist of three phases: Elimination, Semifinal, and Final.
Elimination Phase.
August 6th, 2025
a) One work of your choice will be performed:
- A prelude by Johann Sebastian Bach.
- A movement from an original sonata for guitar
- A sonata by Domenico Scarlatti.
- A study or prelude by Héctor Villa-Lobos.
- Variations on a Theme by Mozart, Op. 9 by Fernando Sor (no repeats).
- "Elogio de la danza" by L. Brouwer.
- "En los trigales" by Joaquín Rodrigo.
b) In addition, one or more works of your choice will be performed. The maximum duration of the elimination phase will be 10 minutes.
Semifinal phase:
August 7th, 2026
A free repertoire will be performed, the duration of which will not exceed 15 minutes.
Works already performed in the elimination phase may not be performed in the semifinal phase.
Final
August 8th, 2026
- A free repertoire will be performed, the duration of which will not exceed 25 minutes.
- In the final round, works already performed in the eliminatory and semi-final rounds may not be performed.
- Contestants are required to adhere to the maximum duration established for each of the competitions. The Jury reserves the right to interrupt a participant only if they exceed the allowed time.
"SENIOR COMPETITION” PRIZES
First Prize
• € 5,000 .
• Concert guitar by luthier José Rodríguez Peña, valued at € 6,000.
• Concert in Germany.
• Concert at the 30th International Guitar Festival "Ciudad de Coria".
• Diploma.
Second Prize
• € 1,200.
• Diploma.
Third Prize
• € 600.
• Diploma.
Fourth Prize
• € 150
• Diploma
Hotel Palacio Coria Prize:
€300 for the best performance of a Spanish work, or a movement thereof, performed in the final round. (This prize may be combined with any other award).
Audience Award
€ 200, which can be combined with any other prize.
Prize for the Best Placed Resident of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura
• Free registration for the 30th International Guitar Festival "Ciudad de Coria".
• Diploma
To be eligible for this prize, contestants must present, before their performance, a certificate of residence, proving their residency in any municipality in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura.
DOCUMENTATION FOR MINORS
Students under the age of 18 who participate in the competition must submit an authorization signed by their father, mother or legal guardian, which must be given to the organization before their performance in the competition by completing the model form found at the end of the registration page.
ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES
Participation in the competition implies acceptance of these Rules.
All prizes will be subject to the withholdings established by the applicable laws and regulations in force.
