28th INTERNATIONAL GUITAR COMPETITION “CIUDAD DE CORIA” 2025

Students enrolled in the 2025 International Guitar Festival "Ciudad de Coria" are eligible to receive these prizes.
The competition will have two categories: "Junior" Competition and "Senior" Competition.
Each contestant may participate in only one category.
Junior Competition: August 7th, 2025 (single audition).
- Age: Up to 18 years old. Participants must not have turned 19 during the competition.
- Contestants will perform a free program with a maximum duration of 15 minutes. The Jury reserves the right to interrupt the participant only if they exceed the allowed time.
- Prizes:
First Prize:
• €500 in cash.
• Free registration for the 29th International Guitar Festival "Ciudad de Coria".
• Diploma.
Second and Third Prize:
• Diploma.
"Senior" Competition: August 6th, 7th and 8th, 2025.
All registered guitarists are eligible to participate in the following categories:
CATEGORY A: ACTIVE STUDENT.
CATEGORY B: AUDITOR STUDENT + COMPETITION.
Except for first-prize winners from previous editions.
The competition will consist of three phases: Elimination, Semifinal, and Final.
- Elimination Phase. August 6, 2025
a) One work of your choice will be performed:
A movement from "The Black Decameron" by Leo Brouwer.
A prelude by Johann Sebastian Bach.
A study or prelude by Héctor Villa-Lobos.
Variations on a Theme by Mozart, Op. 9 by Fernando Sor (no repeats).
"In Praise of Dance" by L. Brouwer.
"In the Wheat Fields" by Joaquín Rodrigo.
A bagatelle by Willian Walton.
A sonata by Domenico Scarlatti.
b) In addition, one or more works of your choice will be performed. The maximum duration of the elimination phase will be 10 minutes.
- Semifinal phase: August 7, 2025
A free repertoire will be performed, the duration of which will not exceed 15 minutes.
Works already performed in the elimination phase may not be performed in the semifinal phase.
- Final: August 8, 2025
- A free repertoire will be performed, the duration of which will not exceed 25 minutes.
- In the final round, works already performed in the eliminatory and semi-final rounds may not be performed.
Contestants are required to adhere to the maximum duration established for each of the competitions. The Jury reserves the right to interrupt a participant only if they exceed the allowed time.
- "Senior" Competition Prizes
First Prize:
• €5,000 in cash.
• Concert guitar by luthier José Rodríguez Peña, valued at €6,000.
• Concert in Germany.
• Concert at the 29th International Guitar Festival "Ciudad de Coria".
• Diploma.
Second Prize:
• €1,200.
• Diploma.
Third Prize:
• €600.
• Diploma.
Fourth Prize:
• €150
• Diploma
- Audience Award
The audience attending the Final Round will be given a ballot with the names of the finalists. The audience attending all the Final Round performances will indicate on this ballot the guitarist they believe deserves the First Prize. They will place the ballot in a ballot box.
At the end of all the performances, at the awards ceremony and in the presence of the audience, the ballots will be counted to award this Prize.
The Audience Award will consist of €200, which can be combined with any other prize.
- Prize for the Best Placed Resident of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura
• Free registration for the 29th International Guitar Festival "Ciudad de Coria".
• Diploma
To be eligible for this prize, contestants must present, before their performance, a certificate of residence, proving their residency in any municipality in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura.

Deadlines:
- until July 22, 2024, inclusive, only for registration in category A (Active Student, with or without Competition); or
- until July 29, 2025, inclusive, for registration in category B (Author, with or without Competition).
The following documents must be attached to the application:
✔ Documents proving the identity of the applicant and, where applicable, the representative of the person signing the application: photocopy of NIF (Tax Identification Number) / Passport.
✔ Declaration of responsibility stating that the applicant does not meet any of the circumstances that would prevent him or her from receiving public subsidies, as established in Article 13 of the General Subsidies Law.
✔ Legal authorization from the parent or guardian, in the case of a minor participating in the competition, as per Annex II.
Various aspects of the participants' performance will be analyzed, such as: musicality, phrasing, articulation, sound, technical mastery of the instrument, ability to communicate with the audience, etc., and these criteria will be assessed with a score of 0 to 10 points. The award may not be awarded if the minimum score of 5 is not achieved.
In the event of a tie, the prize will be divided equally among the participants with the same score.
The Jury will be composed of internationally renowned individuals. Their decision will be final.
